Repipe Materials

Which Repiping Material Is Best For You?

When homeowners decide to repipe their homes, one of the first questions we get asked is, Do we repipe with copper or PEX? The simple answer is sometimes it depends on your local building codes. In cases where your local codes allow for either option, we will take the time to clearly explain the advantages of both and help you make an informed decision. That said, PEX allows for a faster and less invasive installation because it’s a flexible material. PEX is also more insulating, so the cold water stays colder and hot water stays hotter. PEX is unaffected by Chloramines. Chloramines are disinfectants added to our water supply that can cause low-quality copper to fail. Copper is a tried and true material widely used in water distribution systems. It is essential that copper piping is correctly installed. Improperly installed copper can fail within 5 years. However, when installing copper, it’s also very important to install high-grade USA-made copper. Repipe Pros only uses certified installers and the highest grade USA-made Type L and in some cases Type K copper, and Uponor Type A PEX.

PEX (Polyethylene) Piping

Polyethylene is an extremely durable and flexible plastic that has successfully been used for home repiping for decades. Below are some of the advantages to repiping with PEX:

Hot Water Stays Hotter & Cold Stays Colder

Longer Lasting & Lower Cost

No Metallic Taste

Allows For Expansion To Prevent Freezing

Flexibility Allows For Smaller Surgical Openings in Walls & Ceilings

American Made Copper

The Average plumber uses thinner, low-grade Type “M” copper even though it has a shorter life-span and is more susceptible to leaks. Repipe Pros only use American Made Copper.

Type "L" Copper

43% thicker than “M” Copper! We ONLY use USA made thick wall Type “L” copper for longer lasting life.

Properly Prepped Copper

Our certified team will ensure the proper installation of copper piping, starting with the proper prep of the material. This process includes reaming, cleaning, fluxing, preheating, soldering, and cleaning.
